The AFTA – The New Breed

The AFTA was established in 1984, under the guidance of Master Instructor Mr. John Callegari. Whilst keeping all of the traditional values of Tae Kwon-Do, Master Callegari with four of his Senior Instructors, set out to create a dynamic, realistic, and effective form of Tae Kwon-Do in Australia, and thus the AFTA was established.

The AFTA offers it’s students traditional Tae Kwon-Do techniques, including blocking, striking, and kicking, excellent flexibility, fitness and strength training, as well as basic and advance self defense (armed and unarmed) and modern fighting skills. The fighting and self defense skills practiced by AFTA students are fast and powerful, and prove to be successful in the ring in tournaments, and are easily adapted to be effective in realistic “street” self defence situations.

The AFTA – The Path to the Future

AFTA classes are conducted for both children and adults, and focus on practicing realistic techniques with strength and precision. The AFTA is constantly evolving and provides students with the opportunity to attend tournaments, seminars and training camps, to allow them to progress their Martial Arts knowledge.

The years of 2002, 2003, 2005,2006 & 2007 also proved to be exciting years for two of our Instructors, with Ms. Kelly Taylor receiving AFTA Instructor of the Year for 2002 & 2006 and Mr. Adam Taylor receiving AFTA Instructor of the Year for 2003, 2005 and 2007, presented by Master Callegari.

The AFTA has training centres in New South Wales and Queensland with the Academy Head Quarters based in Sydney. It is the goal of your Instructor to provide you with the most comprehensive, powerful, and effective Freestyle Tae Kwon-Do training available in the country.
